THE FUTURE OF KIDS YOGA
Yoga is a beautiful practice: it empowers us to become one with our minds, bodies, and hearts. But as more Americans become connected to this ancient and highly beneficial practice, it becomes crucial that we expand out to welcome others into the fold. Let’s start with our children.
Over time, investing in bringing yoga to schools would create healthier, happier communities. A recent Forbes article declared that yoga helps children stay in school, and thus helping to break the social injustices such as school-prison cycle. Kids yoga addresses the childhood obesity epidemic and school bullying. Participants also enjoy an improved attention span.
Yoga is a $27b industry reaching 20 million people. The really exciting part of yoga’s imprint on our culture is that it has given us the opportunity to bring yoga to schools, community centers, and senior centers. Eventually, yoga will become an integral part of every city program, school district, and neighborhood. Introducing yoga programs in schools is a win-win for all the parties involved: it would welcome a whole generation of yoga students into over 25,000 yoga and Pilates studios, and would be a great source of supplemental income for yoga teachers!
Meanwhile, our children will grow healthier, smarter, and happier.
Currently, there are over 100,000 schools in the United States with over 50 million children. Imagine the long term effects of having all these school children nationwide breathing better, thinking more clearly, and standing stronger!
We at Hosh Kids recognize that yoga, physical activity, and enrichment education is the key to expanding the hearts and mind of what's possible for children in low-income communities to tap into their innate potential to live and dream big! So let’s all come together, and help our children connect more deeply to their minds, bodies, and breaths. We all depend on it. Namaste!
